Time 4 Learning

For the next 30 days I am trying out Time 4 Learning for my kids to see how they like it.  I'm excited!  I checked it out last week and they were both looking over my shoulder begging me to play.  That is a good sign!  Time 4 Learning is an interactive online curriculum for pre-school through eighth grade students. It can be used as a homeschool curriculum, afterschool or summer school supplement and includes language arts, math, science and social studies.  Since we are just starting with homeschooling, we are trying different programs to see what works the best for them.  Stay tuned!

Summer Fit Learning

Because we are just starting our homeschool adventure, I wanted to ease into it rather than start it all at one time.  Fortunately, I found the Summer Fit Learning series at Costco to try out.  I got a grade higher than both of my kids are, just to try to assess their levels.  So far they seem to be doing just fine with the higher levels, and if they get confused then they ask for help.  Bonus.

We do two pages per day in the morning after we read scriptures.  We are cruising slowly through the Book of Mormon and taking the time to study each chapter and read supplemental material if we want to.

This morning I asked my son what he wanted to start adding in next week and he said, "Art!"  I bought some sketch books at Walmart, so I think we will start with talking about different formats of art, maybe go to an art museum, and check out some local classes at Hobby Lobby.

My goal is to add in a new subject every two weeks until we formally start with school, but I want to keep it flexible and inspire a love of learning new things rather than cramming it all into a few hours and trying to get it done and over.  I would like to add Music in a couple of weeks.
